It’s no secret that nowadays everyone can become a celebrity and start building a media influencer brand and business around a disruptive idea. And success doesn’t depend on your monthly salary background, country, job, gender or age anymore. Success in today’s social media age is INFLUENCE! That’s right.

It about standing for a cause, working on your assignment – the reason for which you are here.

Like my mama used to say ” You are not a champion by fighting for yourself but for others. Success without a successor they say is failure back to back. And if you think you are leading when no one is following you are only taking a walk down your street.

The social media age personalities are a new breed of celebrity, the brand – new influencers holding authority over a small niche of followers. They’re the new banger of entertainment in the modern world and they’re also the new wave of marketing.

They are real people doing real things online.

You can create a ripple effect in the world doing something meaningful – one you love at that on the internet.

Media influencer brands have come to stay and won’t go away anytime soon, so long as the Internet lives.

It is very unlikely that any person in today’s brave world is not impacted by social media.

We all post a thing or two on our social media platforms, at least once in every two days on the average.

How many times have you posted something of interest that you get showered some likes from you close circles of friends huh?

The colossal impact of this medium has led to the rise of a new class of digital brands in which companies are using popular icons from across diffused industries to market their brand in a subtle yet effective manner. The coming of the internet and social media has changed the entire entertainment, marketing and advertising industry for ever.

There are two classes of people in the online; The influencer and the follower. No such thing as middle ground. It exist only in your sleep.

Yes, in the past, consumers made their purchasing decisions based on traditional advertisements they gleaned from television or heard on the radio.

Today it’s easier more than you have ever imagined to connect with other buyers via social media and make enlightened buying decisions by learning about their personal experiences dealing with a company, service or product.

In the past, before people can follow you, have to be an expert, now just documenting your interest and the process of become an expert is enough to get like minded people to follow support your dream.

That’s the power of social media. Man is a social being and it seems as though the time of which this is – he has been all waiting for to really express that gregarious nature.

Today, it’s a different ball game entirely. Social media is a game changer. “social capital is the

asset worth building, while influence is the strongest currency for driving brand awareness and producing revenue”.

Brands used to compete rigorously for celebrity endorsements.

But today, all people want is an authentic voice from a known platform in a well defined niche. recommendation from an individual they have followed, can trust. -influencers have a niche following – a ‘tribe’ that shares the same interests  passions as them.

Normally, you would think an influencer is someone with a fat account balance or a political figure. Way far from it.

According to Forbes , you don’t need to have 10,000 to 500,000 followers to be considered as an influencer.

But the long and short of it is that, you need to be known for something online and your opinion must

matter on social media to hold the status of an influencer.

An influencer is someone who influence. That definition is so simple so much so that the average Simba on the street would get ’em. But the thing is – most of the simple things in the world get misrepresented because they are simple.

You can become influential no matter your educational or social – economic background. Social media is a leveler for all and Sundry.

So, a media influencer is someone who has leveraged media platforms to influence others with who they are and  what they do.

An influencer today is a person who has the power to affect the opinion of others and get them to do something different. They casually ignite conversations, trigger a trend around a

particular topic –  fashion, sport, music, finance, makeup, education or some niche area,

and end up converting the followers to die hard loyal fans, influencing a purchase action. Has any of the traditional celebrity pitched a sale to you? And how did that come off to you. Promotional or prompt? I gat your attention now.

Every influencer is incredibly powerful in his or her niche and commands not only the audience’s attention but also their trust. Social media users keep a close watch on what their favorite models and stars are doing on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.

content creators with niche audiences can often offer more value to brands.

These people have dedicated and engaged groups of followers on social media. They are known simply as “social media influencers.” Influencers are the kings and queens of content creation, pumping out piece after piece of high-quality, engaging content.

Brands now focus on marketing products through personal experience. This allows a brand to be worked into an individual’s life as opposed to just being advertised through traditional marketing strategies that target the mass audience via mass media.

Just because our firm get paid to so not because it’s something we are interested in. Nah!

This alone justify why making money on the Internet doing what your love and build a brand and a follower base around it is not entirely impossible.

And doing it genuinely, you can’t build true loyal likes by buying followers. It will come crumbling down like a pack of cards.

You don’t need to have a gazillion followers on social media before you can be regarded as an influencer.

It comes naturally as a result of being really valuable to others in a remarkable way.

And like I stated earlier, just about anyone who’s got something to offer (and we all have something of value to offer) can become influential in any defined field they find themselves in.

“Your leadership will only find expression in a well defined field. Your job/assignment is to find that your true north that when discovered, everything works together for you.

If you want to become an influencer there can never be a better than now to start. And start from. Mind you, there are no shortcuts and the reward is well worth it. Buying followers won’t cut it. I don’t advocate such. But build genuine follower who resonate with your core.If yo are able to tell a compelling story to your audience, you are most likely to win them over. The more authentic your story is the more influence you can wield.
